The Ant Playground is the fourth episode of season 1 of Ni Hao, Kai-Lan. In this episode, Kai-lan and her friends build a playground for the ants.
In production order, this is the tenth episode of the first season.
Plot[]
Kai-Lan is watching the Ants carry toy horses through the grass, where they say that they are building a playground. However, the ants say that they are missing a swing, which the baby ants really want. Kai-Lan comes up with an idea; building their own swing. Back home, Ye-Ye had just finished building a house replica, much smaller than Kai-Lan and Ye-Ye, who says that the house is meant for Mr. Grasshopper, who goes inside the house.
Hoho, Tolee, and Rintoo are watching the ants work as well, where Kai-Lan catch up with them. Kai-Lan tells them that they are building a swing, Tolee suggests a tire swing, where the tire would be tied to a rope onto a tree. Everyone then looks for parts on what they need, which they all tie to a tree to test it out for themselves. However, the tree branch is too high, so they call Lulu via her song, who grabs the tire and puts it up the tree. They then ride the swing, enjoying it. However, the swing is too big for the ants, Kai-Lan says that the tire swing is too big for the ants to move.
After concluding that the tire swing is the wrong side, Mr. Grasshopper comes back, revealing that the house replica fits him. Ye-Ye says that Mr. Grasshopper is small, so he made a small house for him. Kai-Lan then concludes that they need a tire swing, and comes up with a solution; "if everything you do, think what your friends need too."
Kai-Lan and her friends build another tire swing, this time borrowing parts from Ye-Ye, where she takes a button, Rintoo takes the string, and Tolee ties up with the string and the button. They then find a smaller tree branch to tie the swing. The ants come back to try the swing, and it fits perfectly. Kai-Lan then cuts open the ribbon gates with scissors, and then the ant playground is open.

Trivia[]
- This is the first time Lulu has a minor role.
- This is the first main problem that isn't caused intentionally nor involves anyone quitting. In this case, Kai-Lan and her friends made a swing too big, which was more of their size than something the ants wanted.

Errors[]
- While Ye-Ye is sitting by the stump which has the house replica, a hammer mysteriously appears in one shot, when it wasn't on the previous shots.
- When Kai-lan and her friends were looking the bush after it zoomed in to the ants Rintoo suddenly disappears
- In one instance, When Kai-Lan and her friends start looking at things through the ants’ point of view, Hoho’s entire outline is black instead of light brown.
